1966: Ex-Nazi General Arrested
MUNICH — Police today [Jan. 13] arrested a Nazi general who sent thousands of Dutch Jews to concentration camps, including Anne Frank. Ex-Maj. Gen. Wilhelm Harster and two aides — one of them a woman — were arrested on suspicion of complicity in mass murder in wartime Holland.
A Justice Department announcement said that Harster was charged in 83,000 cases. It added that one of the victims attributed to him was Anne Frank, whose diary is world famous.
