Lester Louise

Louise Lester (8 août 1867 – 18 novembre 1952) était une actrice américaine de cinéma muet. Elle fut la première femme à tenir le rôle principal dans des westerns.

Actrice

Louise Lester est née à Milwaukee, dans le Wisconsin, le 8 août 1867. En 1884, elle dirige la Louise Lester Opera Company. Après une carrière théâtrale, elle fait ses débuts au cinéma au sein de la Flying A Company à Santa Barbara, en Californie. Elle joue dans plus de 150 films avant de prendre sa retraite en 1935. Louise Lester est surtout connue pour son rôle de Calamity Anne dans une série de films inspirés de ce personnage. Elle a également joué aux côtés de William Garwood, notamment dans Le Serment de Pierre. Son nom d'épouse était Louise Lester Beal. Elle était la veuve du réalisateur Frank Beal. Elle a également été mariée à l'acteur Jack Richardson.

Lester a créé le personnage de Calamity Anne et a écrit les scénarios de la série. Elle a incarné Calamity Anne dans une série de quinze courts métrages centrés sur le personnage, interprétant le rôle principal dans des films tels que *L'Héritage de Calamity Anne*, *La Vanité de Calamity Anne*, *La Beauté de Calamity Anne* et *Calamity Anne, Héroïne* – tous sortis en 1913. La série s'est poursuivie pendant quatre ans, le dernier film étant *Le Protégé de Calamity Anne*, sorti en 1917.

Décès

Le 18 novembre 1952, Lester décède à la Motion Picture Country Home, à l'âge de 85 ans. Ses funérailles ont eu lieu dans la chapelle du funérarium Utter-McKinley Strouthers, 6240 Hollywood Boulevard. Les services ont été assurés par la foi bahá'íe.

Louise Lester fut l'épouse de Jack Richardson, puis du réalisateur Frank Beal, et la mère de Scott Beal.
