Denise Faye Greenbaum (née le 16 juillet 1963) est une actrice, danseuse, chorégraphe et réalisatrice américaine. Elle a reçu un American Choreography Award ainsi qu'un Screen Actors Guild Award pour le film Chicago (2002). Faye a remporté le Dance Track Magazine Artist Award de la meilleure chorégraphie pour un long métrage grâce à son travail sur Burlesque. Elle a également été nommée pour plusieurs prix, dont le Fred and Adele Astaire Award et les World Dance Awards, pour sa chorégraphie sur Burlesque.

Carrière

Chorégraphe

En 2014, Faye a co-mis en scène et chorégraphié une grande partie de la tournée « Dressed to Kill » de Cher. Elle a ensuite réalisé le DVD du concert « Martha Davis & the Motels Live at the Whisky a Go Go's 50th Anniversary », sorti à l'été 2015. Puis, elle a réalisé un clip vidéo pour Martha Davis and the Motels. Faye a mis en scène la lecture théâtralisée de la comédie musicale « The Magic Horn », écrite par Charlie Midnight, James Marr et Wendy Piggot, au Geffen Playhouse de Los Angeles, alors en cours d'adaptation pour Broadway. Parmi les chorégraphies de Faye, on peut citer sa collaboration avec Hugh Jackman sur un spectacle à gros budget pour Steve Wynn, le strip-tease de Jennifer Aniston dans « We're the Millers », et la réinterprétation et la chorégraphie de Catherine Zeta-Jones dans « All That Jazz » pour la 85e cérémonie des Oscars.

Elle a également travaillé sur de nombreuses productions à Broadway, notamment « Chicago », « Guys and Dolls » et « Jerome Robbins Broadway ». Parmi ses pièces de théâtre, on compte des créations au Public Theater, au Lincoln Center Theater, au Williamstown Theater Festival et au Second Stage Theater. Ses chorégraphies figurent dans des films tels que « My Week with Marilyn », « We're the Millers », « Burlesque », et elle a collaboré avec son mentor, Rob Marshall, sur les films oscarisés « Chicago » et « Nine », entre autres.

Télévision

À la télévision, elle a chorégraphié et réalisé des séquences pour des émissions comme « The American Music Awards », « Dancing with the Stars » et « The X Factor UK ». Elle a également chorégraphié de nombreuses publicités, notamment pour GoDaddy lors du Super Bowl 2012 et pour Dasani Water lors des Jeux olympiques d'été de 2012. Auparavant, Faye s'est formée à la School of American Ballet, a dansé avec le New York City Ballet, puis a étudié au Barnard College où elle a obtenu une double licence en études urbaines et en psychologie. Elle a également dansé dans le clip de Jon Bon Jovi, « Queen of New Orleans », premier single extrait de son album solo « Destination Anywhere ».

Cinéma

Dans l'un de ses rôles les plus récents au cinéma, elle a joué aux côtés de Tom Cruise, Mary J. Blige et Alec Baldwin dans le film Rock of Ages (2012). La même année, elle a prêté sa voix à un habitant de Blithe Hollow dans le film d'animation Paranorman de Chris Butler et Sam Fell, aux côtés de Sandra Bullock et Casey Affleck. Il s'agissait de sa première apparition vocale dans un film d'animation. Sa dernière apparition au cinéma remonte à 2013, lorsqu'elle a doublé un personnage dans le film d'animation Legends of Oz: Dorothy Returns, avec Lea Michele et Bernadette Peters. Depuis 2013, Faye se consacre exclusivement à la chorégraphie. En 2013, elle a chorégraphié la cérémonie des Oscars et, en 2015, un épisode de la série télévisée Kriste. Depuis, elle a également signé les chorégraphies de plusieurs autres films et séries, dont Central Intelligence (2016) et des épisodes de Mary + Jane (2017). En 2023, elle a été la chorégraphe du clip vidéo « Heartbeat » de Davina Michelle.
