Peterson Dorothy

Bergetta « Dorothy » Peterson (25 décembre 1897[réf. nécessaire] – 3 octobre 1979) était une actrice américaine. Elle a débuté sa carrière d'actrice à Broadway avant d'apparaître dans plus de quatre-vingts films hollywoodiens.

Jeunesse

Peterson est née à Hector, dans le Minnesota, fille d'Oscar Frank Peterson et d'Emily Johnson Peterson. Elle avait un frère, Buford, et a grandi à Zion, dans l'Illinois. Elle était d'origine suédoise. Elle a étudié dans une école d'art dramatique, jouant dans des adaptations de pièces grecques, puis a fréquenté le Chicago Musical College.

Actrice

Créditée sous son nom de naissance, Peterson a joué avec une troupe dans la pièce *Icebound* au Montauk Theater de Brooklyn (New York) en septembre 1923. Pendant deux ans, elle a effectué des tournées avec l'Ibsen Repertory Company de Borgony Hammer. Elle a quitté cette troupe pour se rendre à New York, où elle a commencé à jouer dans des productions de Broadway. Parmi les pièces de Broadway auxquelles elle a participé, on compte *Subway Express* (1929), *Dracula* (1927), *God Loves Us* (1926), *Pomeroy's Past* (1926), *Find Daddy* (1926), *The Fall Guy* (1925), *All God's Chillun Got Wings* (1924) et *Cobra* (1924). Elle a fait ses débuts à l'écran dans *Mothers Cry* (1930), un drame familial qui a exigé de l'actrice, alors âgée de 29 ans, de vieillir de près de trois décennies au cours du film.

Décès

Peterson est décédée le 3 octobre 1979. Elle a été inhumée au cimetière Mount Olivet de Zion, dans l'Illinois.
