Thornby Robert

Robert Thornby, né le 27 mars 1888 à New York et mort le 6 mars 1953 à Los Angeles, est un acteur et réalisateur américain de l'époque du cinéma muet. Il a réalisé soixante-quinze films entre 1913 et 1927. Il a également joué dans 48 films entre 1911 et 1930. 

Réalisateur

Le talent de Thornby pour travailler avec les enfants et les animaux, et pour les diriger, l'a amené, au sein du studio Keystone Comedies (également connu sous le nom de Keystone Kiddies), à réaliser quatre films de la série Little Billy avec le jeune acteur Paul Jacobs en 1914. Il a quitté Keystone pour rejoindre la Sterling Film Company, spécialisée dans les comédies, où il a également travaillé comme réalisateur. Il a collaboré avec le président Fred J. Balshofer et le secrétaire-trésorier Henry Lehrman , avant la dissolution de la société en 1915. Il a également travaillé pour les studios Peerless, puis a réalisé des films pour Paramount Pictures à la fin des années 1910 et au début des années 1920. En tant que réalisateur du film The Fox en 1921, il fut reconnu pour son talent à filmer des scènes complexes d'équitation et de combat. Il travailla comme assistant de Maurice Tourneur sur le film Lorna Doone en 1922.
