Réalisateur. Seitz George Brackett

George B. Seitz est un réalisateur, scénariste, producteur et acteur américain, né le 3 janvier 1888 à Boston, dans le Massachusetts, et mort le 8 juillet 1944 à Hollywood, en Californie.

Après de brillantes études, il écrit des pièces de théâtre avant de se rendre à Hollywood au début des années 10. Il écrit des scénarios pour Pathé (Les Mystères de New York de Gasnier) et interprète de nombreux films d'aventures à partir de 1913. Il révolutionne l'écriture et le montage de films en inventant le serial. Les Périls de Pauline avec sa partenaire Pearl White recueille un succès mondial. Seitz domine le genre pendant plus d'une décennie. Parmi ses succès, on peut compter Les Rôdeurs de l'Air, La Race qui meurt (Vanishing American) qui rend hommage au peuple indien, La Folie de l'Or, Jim le Conquérant et Le Gosse du Cirque. Seitz ne retrouve pas ce statut à l'avènement du parlant, se retrouvant cantonné dans des séries B (pour la MGM) indignes de son talent. Il réussit néanmoins une belle adaptation du Dernier des Mohicans avec Randolph Scott, une bonne biographie de Kit Carson et connaît un triomphe avec la série des Andy Hardy qu'interprète Mickey Rooney. Ce cinéaste de grande valeur est injustement oublié. George B. Seitz est décédé à Hollywood, le 8 juillet 1944.
