Beaumont Harry

Harry Beaumont est un acteur, producteur, réalisateur et scénariste américain, né le 10 février 1888 à Abilene, dans le Kansas, et mort le 22 décembre 1966 à Santa Monica, en Californie (États-Unis). 

Réalisateur

Les plus grands succès de Beaumont datent de l'époque du cinéma muet, où il réalisa des films comme Beau Brummel (1924) avec John Barrymore et le film muet pour la jeunesse Nos filles dansantes (1928), avec Joan Crawford. Il réalisa ensuite la première comédie musicale parlante de la MGM, La Mélodie de Broadway (1929). Ce dernier film remporta l'Oscar du meilleur film cette année-là, et Beaumont fut nommé pour l'Oscar du meilleur réalisateur.

Vie privée et décès

Beaumont était marié à l'actrice Hazel Daly. Le couple eut des jumelles, Anne et Geraldine, nées en 1922. Le 22 décembre 1966, Beaumont décéda à l'hôpital St. John's de Santa Monica, en Californie. Il repose au cimetière Forest Lawn Memorial Park de Glendale.

Récompenses et distinctions

• 1930: Nomination à l'Oscar du meilleur réalisateur pour The Broadway Melody, qui a reçu l'Oscar du meilleur film.
